The digital kaleidoscope was my final project for Neil Gershenfeld’s How to Make (almost) Anything class. It was fabricated using an existing clarinet and integrating an LCD screen at the end of the bell. Every time the keys are played, the image on the screen is modified or squeued like that of a kaleidoscope.

Special thanks to David Merrill, Emil Sit and Jeevan Kalanithi

The How to Make (almost) Anything class covered both the software and hardware involved in creating new technologies. The class covered topics from designing and milling a circuit board, to microcontrollers and finally to programming and integration.
