Winner of an iF Concept Award 2010, UK based Canadian designer, Vanessa Harden (b.1980) graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto with her BDes in jewellery and metalsmithing. She has since been affiliated with various educational institutes, such as the MIT Media Lab, and Hexagram Labs at Concordia University. In 2009, Vanessa obtained her Masters degree in Design Interactions from the Royal College of Art in London.
Her skills lie in product design and fabrication, physical prototyping, idea generation, scenario building, analysis of social interaction and technology projection. Vanessa’s personal work explores the application of mainstream design processes to niche groups. Previous projects have identified areas within society, and explored these through design and new technologies. This has enabled the creation of instruments inspired by the unique behaviours of specific groups of people.
