SEED2TABLE DINNERS

The Seed2Table charity event took place at Honey’s, a cocktail bar and restaurant with a rooftop farm located within Enlightenment Wines meadery in Brooklyn NY. The meadery, the first of its kind in NYC, develops small batch honey based wines that are dry (not sweet), around 12% alcohol, barrel fermented and released seasonally. Honey’s has been collaborating with Subversive Gardener by hosting our yearly Seed2Table charity dinner which helps raise funds for our many initiatives.

Tomato Taster

Tomato Taster is a collaborative Seed-to-Table dinner presented by The Subversive Gardener, exploring urban gardening through the lens of locally grown heirloom tomatoes. Centered around a tomato-themed, family-style meal, the evening creates meaningful connections between gardening, food production, and community.

This event was made possible through the generous support of our partners—Honey’s, Heatonist, and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. All proceeds from Tomato Taster directly support The Subversive Gardener’s educational programs and public outreach efforts.

Chili Charity Feast

The Chili Charity Feast was a Seed2Table fundraiser hosted at Honey’s in Brooklyn, bringing together twenty-five guests for a tasting of six handcrafted hot sauces. The sauces were made by Heatonist using heirloom hot peppers grown in a Brooklyn apartment from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds.

Each sauce was paired with a vegetable-forward dish grown by Natoora and prepared by Chef Heather Dombrosky, creating a playful yet thoughtful exploration of heat, flavour, and food systems. Throughout the evening, Vanessa Hardenof The Subversive Gardener shared the story behind the peppers and the broader ecosystems that support urban food production.

All proceeds from the event were donated to The Youth Farm, supporting education-focused community farming initiatives.
